Union Centre Boulevard Merchant Association Grants Available 
for Nonprofits

The Union Center Boulevard Merchant Association (UCBMA) is a group of enthusiastic local merchants promoting the Union Centre Boulevard Central Business District. UCBMA organizes the annual Union Centre Food Truck Rally and supports the Shamrock Shuffle and First Financial Concert Series. UCBMA also sponsors West Chester/Liberty Rotary’s BBQ Festival, Sharon Woods Holiday in Lights and Empty Bowls. UCBMA raises funds at these events to give as grants or sponsorships to area charitable organizations. They have given more than $30,000 to support an impressive list of local charitable organizations. Each month the group awards a grant in the amount of $250- $1,000. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA—Free Program for Cancer Survivors

The Great Miami Valley YMCA introduces LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free, 12-week, research-based program, supporting cancer survivors and their families. YMCA wellness coaches are trained in the elements of cancer, post-rehab exercise and supportive cancer care. They work with each participant to fit the program to their individual needs to regain physical, emotional and spiritual strength. In addition, YMCA offers I’M STRONG, a version of the LIVESTRONG program specifically tailored for pediatric cancer survivors, ages 6-17. Lakota Students Win State Engineering & Medical Competitions

Lakota students won state-level competitions in engineering and medical competitions this spring. Their next stop will be Nashville, Tennessee, to advance to the next level of competition this summer. UC Health West Chester Hospital is excited to announce a new bedside tablet program, My UC Health Bedside. The program began rolling out in February and all rooms now offer the feature. The My UC Health Bedside tablet program is a major investment in patient-centered technology. Liberty Township & Duke Energy Celebrate Earth Day

Liberty Township, in collaboration with Duke Energy, held a special Earth Day Celebration to plant seven new trees on April 22. Each year, Duke Energy celebrates Earth Day with Greater Cincinnati communities. Liberty Township was selected as a partner community for their 2016 Earth Day celebration. Four Autumn Blaze and three October Glory trees were planted in the Township’s Dudley Memorial Park, 5700 Yankee Road.
