Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mindful Wellness Medical Thermography offers a revolutionary way of detecting breast cancer and other medical ailments. Medical Thermography offers a no contact, no radiation, no compression breast cancer adjunctive screening tool. Thermography maps, measures and monitors inflammation and other abnormalities, along with changes in overall body conditions earlier than most tests.
Thermograms can detect breast abnormalities up to a decade before a mammogram. To learn more about Medical Thermography call 513.382.3132 or visit the website. Volunteer To Make A Difference
The MidPointe Library System offers a unique service to patrons who cannot leave their homes, by delivering individually selected library items to these homebound patrons. This program visits more than 200 individuals each month who have limited access to resources outside their homes due to age, illness or disability.
Community volunteers are currently needed to expand this service. Applicants must be at least 18-years-old and able to commit to an ongoing schedule. Deliveries are typically made Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. For additional information about volunteer requirements or to apply, please visit the website or call Library Director Travis Bautz at 513.424.0659. It’s not every day that an instructor of this caliber comes to West Chester. Ganesh Mohan, M.D. will be teaching Module 2 of the Svastha Yoga Therapy Training at Gracetree, designed specifically for yoga teachers, advanced practitioners and people from related fields. The goal is to enable participants to integrate newly acquired knowledge immediately in their teaching.
Ganesh’s visit to West Chester is significant in that he’s only making four stops in the U.S. during his world trip. Ganesh is the son of world-renowned yoga instructors A.G. and Indra Mohan, who originated the Svastha organization. This five-day training with Ganesh runs from October 14-18 from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Yoga teacher John Kepner will also be present at the training. Backpack Drives’ Most Successful Year Yet
Thanks to the generous members of our community and area business for their phenomenal support of two local backpack drives, which combined donated close to 1,000 backpacks to area families in need. Reach Out Lakota’s annual Back To School Supply Drive donated more than 500 backpacks and school supplies to Lakota students. An additional 125 leftover supplies will be donated back to various local programs. Because of many volunteers and community partners, including West Chester/Liberty Township Faith Alliance, this was the first year Reach Out Lakota was able to fulfill every request of children in need.
With the generosity of our community, the Leadership 21 Class of 2016 project, Got Your Back Backpack Drive, was also a success. The class was able to purchase 300 Under Armour backpacks for children at the Boys & Girls Club, who otherwise would not have this basic necessity. Thank you for helping to lighten the load of the social, emotional and academic pressures of area students!
