Holiday traditions. 2

It’s hard to believe the holidays are just around the corner. Each year as I unpack my boxes of decorations, memories from Christmas’ past come flooding to my mind.

One of my favorite holiday traditions dates back to my very first Christmas. Every year my mom would give me a new Christmas ornament. When I moved out on my own, she turned these treasured keepsakes over to me so I could use them as the foundation for adorning my own Christmas tree. After college, I decided to start buying a Christmas ornament from every place I traveled. So now, intermixed with years of Christmas memories, we have ornaments celebrating our various vacations and travel.

This makes the task of trimming the tree an enjoyable stroll through childhood memories and provides me with a chance to pause and think back to some of my favorite trips. I love our eclectic tree and don’t mind the imperfections and random hodgepodge of ornaments spanning multiple themes–our Christmas tree is my favorite holiday decoration.
