Volunteers Needed for
Great Pumpkin Fest

West Chester Township is seeking volunteers to work The Great Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, October 14, at Keehner Park. This annual fall event is a favorite among families and requires the support of hundreds of volunteers to lead games and activities, decorate and more. Shifts are available throughout Saturday, and it’s a great opportunity for students to earn service hours while giving back to the community in a fun way.

The Great Pumpkin Fest includes a costume contest, horse-and-wagon rides, petting zoos, a not-so-scary haunted trail, crafts, games and more. There is no cost to attend. To learn more about volunteering, call 513.759.7301 or go online. WestChesterOH.org

Leadership 21 Class Focusing on Youth

The West Chester • Liberty Chamber Alliance’s Leadership 21 class of 2017 partnered with MetroParks of Butler County to host a picnic for local foster families affiliated with Focus on Youth. The Leadership 21 class distributed school supplies to the foster families and provided a fun afternoon including games, activities and lunch. The West Chester police came to meet the families along with the Liberty and West Chester fire departments. “Our goal was to provide a wholesome environment where local foster families could create a good memory,” said Michael McNamara, Leadership 21 class member and Executive Director of Butler County’s Port Authority.

Leadership 21 is designed to improve the quantity, quality and effectiveness of our local leadership. Area leaders are selected each summer to participate in this year-long program. The 2017 class ‘graduated’ in September and passed the baton to the new class of 2018. Focus on Youth is a non-profit, faith based foster care, adoption and behavioral health provider.  TheChamberAlliance.com

Reach Out Lakota
Expansion Dedication

Reach Out Lakota recently celebrated a new clothing department expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony in August. Staff, volunteers, donors and local leaders all convened at Reach Out Lakota for the official expansion dedication, funded in part by the West Chester/Liberty Community Foundation in 2014. The expansion was completed in late 2016 and has given the clothing department much needed space for storage, sorting and processing.

In addition to the expansion, Reach Out Lakota renovated many parts of the pantry, helping to streamline processes of distribution and client aid. The mission at Reach Out Lakota is to give a helping hand to those living in West Chester and Liberty Township to help bridge the gap between today and tomorrow. The non-profit is 100% community-based and funded. Congratulations to Reach Out Lakota on the expansion! ReachOutLakota.org
