February weather often has us stuck inside, going a little stir-crazy as we eagerly await spring. So this month we’ve come up with some new ways to help you pass the time indoors by cultivating creativity.
Are you a DIY-er or do you have a mound of half-finished projects haunting you? If I’m being completely honest, I have a long history of starting artistic projects that I never quite seem to finish. I have a craft desk that still holds the materials needed to create a baby scrapbook for my now 12-year-old son. Next to my dust-covered sewing machine is a stack of material that my kids and I were going to use to make hats for a winter coat drive—a project we started more than two years ago.
If this sounds familiar, you’ll appreciate the simplicity and speed of the do-it-yourself projects we feature this month. Inside you can try one of our ideas for a hand-made Valentine’s Day gift. If you prefer someone else makes the treats for you, you’ll enjoy meeting the owner of Delicious Designs Cookies in Olde West Chester.
We wanted to find a unique local artist to spotlight who would inspire our readers to get creative. We never imagined the artist would be covered in fur and walk on four legs! This month meet Chloe, the painting dog.
We have so many talented students in our district. Inside is a sneak peak at the upcoming musicals and plays that you can see in the Lakota schools over the next few months.
We are blessed to have a talented team of writers and photographers who create the beautiful photographs and write the heartwarming stories that fill our pages. This month we introduce you to six of our contributors.
Each issue we shine the spotlight on a different charity, and this month the focus is on the brand new Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty. Look inside their new facility and learn how they help impact our local youth in powerful ways.
These are just a few of the stories inside this month geared at cultivating creativity. So grab a paintbrush or spatula and get ready to create!
