Whether you have children at home at or not, it’s hard to escape the constant reminders that back-to-school is right around the corner. For many of our readers, the nest is empty of kids and full of fur- or feather-covered children. So, we’ve come up with the perfect compromise this August—our first combined “Pets and Kids” issue.

Inside you’ll meet seven interesting area residents and their four-legged friends. They are all making their marks on our community in their own unique ways.

For pet owners, we show you what a day is like with the experts at local Animal Hospital of West Chester. We also give you a first look inside the brand new The Fetchington Luxury Pet Hotel in Olde West Chester, the first upscale pet resort and daycare of its kind in the area. I can personally testify to the amazing care my dog, Sandy, has been given by the compassionate teams at both Animal Hospital of West Chester and The Fetchington. I wouldn’t trust my four-legged fur-baby with anyone who wasn’t outstanding, and both have been exceptional in their fields. We also searched some of our favorite local boutiques to find unique gifts to buy for pet owners.

This month our Giving Back story shines a spotlight on EDGE Teen Center, the nonprofit organization providing a safe place for local high school students to connect, serve and grow.

So, whether your children walk on two legs or four, you’re sure to find something inside this special Pets and Kids issue.
