“Home is where the heart is.” It’s a common phrase we’ve all heard, but if you stop to think about it, there’s quite a bit of truth to those six words. Our homes are a central place in our lives—where we rest our heads, nourish our bodies and make fond memories with loved ones. It’s the epicenter of our worlds.

This month, we bring you our annual Home issue, which is full of ideas for creating the best environment for your home. The family room is often the central gathering place, where families sit and relax at the end of the day. Inside this issue we look at a transformation that took a formal and dated family room and turned it into a welcoming and comfortable space, while incorporating a more current, sophisticated style.

For many families, the journey to get a home is a long and difficult process and there isn’t enough money left to provide adequate furnishings. Mike Watkins and his team at Sleep in Heavenly Peace are providing bunk beds to local families in need to give children a comfortable place to rest.

With springtime upon us, there’s no better time for a little do-it-yourself project! Declutter your electronic cords with this DIY charging station. Finally, see page XX for ideas on how to incorporate the Pantone color of 2019, Living Coral, into your home and wardrobe.

We hope this issue inspires you to appreciate the place you call home—both your personal dwelling and our shared community—whether you’ve just moved here or it’s a place your family has occupied for generations. Here’s to home sweet home!
