Emery FCU Celebrates 80 Years of Service

With a location right here in Liberty Township, Emery Federal Credit Union is celebrating 80 years of being in business. Emery is a full-service, not-for-profit financial cooperative, known for being “your credit union with heart” here in the Greater Cincinnati area. Chartered in 1939 to serve employees of Emery Industries, which originally produced candles and lamp oil, they expanded to include other diverse groups in 1984. Currently, members can be anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Hamilton, Butler or Warren counties in Ohio. Lakota’s 2019 Educators of Excellence

Lakota Local Schools and the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty recently recognized the 2019 Lakota Educator of Excellence Awards. This year, the Elementary Winner was Audrey Young, a counselor from Freedom Elementary, while the Secondary Winner was Jennifer Dietsch, a choir teacher at Ridge Junior School. The Administrator Winner was Andrea Blevins, principal of Endeavor Elementary. This award was established in 2007 to recognize educators in the Lakota School District who demonstrate consistency and high commitment to students. These individuals motivate, share ideas, inspire, support, create and go beyond to make a difference in the community. The grade level awards include a $1,000 grant for the implementation of a special project or program at the recipient’s school, made possible this year through sponsorship from Phelan Insurance. MidPointe Library Promotions

Steve Mayhugh, longtime manager of MidPointe Library’s West Chester branch, has accepted the position of Facilities Director for the entire MidPointe system. In the newly created post, he will oversee infrastructure, operating systems and maintenance, and he will be the primary contact for renovations at libraries in Middletown, West Chester, Trenton, Monroe and Liberty Township (located on the second floor of Liberty Center). Mayhugh’s former position at West Chester will be filled by Amy Young, current manager of MidPointe’s Trenton branch. iFLY Now Open

iFLY recently opened their first Ohio location at Liberty Center, offering the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of skydiving in an indoor setting. iFLY is available to children as young as three and proudly enables people of all abilities the opportunity to fly—even those who may not be able to walk. Bringing iFLY to our region was the long-time dream of Steve Hunt and the late Army Master Sergeant Corey Hood. Corey was a Lakota West graduate and member of the Army Golden Knights, the Army’s elite parachute team, who lost his life in 2015. West Chester Choir Singing National Anthem at Reds’ Stadium

The choir of the West Chester Presbyterian Church (WCPC) in Olde West Chester has been invited to sing the National Anthem at Great American Ballpark on Saturday, July 6, prior to the 4:15 p.m. game between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. This year, both the Reds and WCPC are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their founding in 1869.
