The Shiver Security, in partnership with the Matt Haverkamp Foundation, has provided a generous donation to the Dayton Police Department of $14,500, which will allow the department to purchase a police dog for patrol and narcotics detection. Cyber Academy Launching at Lakota Schools

Computer hackers beware! A new wave of cybersecurity analysts will be coming from Lakota Local Schools. Beginning this fall, the new Lakota Cyber Academy program will launch for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Partnering with Belcan, LLC, Lakota Schools is introducing this new curriculum for students interested in computer science. Industry experts predict there will be 3.5 million jobs in cybersecurity by 2021 that will go unfilled. Students enrolled in the district’s new program will be able to earn up to six industry certifications and qualify for internship opportunities. With next year’s seniors only having one year in the program, an accelerated Cyber Sprint option will be available to help them complete as much of the course as possible. Students interested in enrolling in Lakota Cyber Academy will complete an application process, including an interview. Lt. Governor Jon Husted will be attending an official ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the program’s launch in mid-August. Lakota is seeking additional industry partners to get involved in the form of mentoring, job shadowing, design challenges, sponsorship and internships. Join the Secret Shake Society to Uncover Hidden Treats

Go “off menu” with other Butler County residents and explore our local culinary scene by joining the Secret Shake Society, a new initiative from Butler County Visitor’s Bureau. Armed with your newfound knowledge, you can order this taste sensation during the limited two-week run time of each shake, even if it isn’t advertised in the store or restaurant itself. Prices are set by each local business and mentioned in the email. The secret shakes offer you the opportunity to get out and try new flavors during the classic milkshake “season” of summer and beyond.
