Are you hungry? We’re sure you will be when you read—or should we say devour—this issue, the most drool-worthy one of the year: the annual food and wine issue. We spent the last few months scouring the streets in search of the most delectable bites West Chester and Liberty Township have to offer.

This year our food focus was on everyday comfort foods and delicious desserts. We visited one of the newest restaurants in West Chester—Skally’s. Their menu ranges from gourmet pizzas to Mediterranean treats. Learn more about the history behind this local eatery and enjoy a preview of some of our favorites on their menu.

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll have your choice of stories this month. We sampled over a dozen different donuts from the Donut Trail shops located in West Chester and Liberty Township. It was a tough job, but we narrowed it down to our favorites across three categories. If you want to try a unique do-at-home dessert, check our tips and recipes for creating your own S’mores Bar.

Don’t worry wine lovers, we didn’t forget you. Read about the premier fall wine event at Basil’s on Market. Then turn to page 50 we share gift ideas for what to give the wine lover in your life.

While we don’t like to play favorites, the food and wine issue is near and dear to our hearts. After all, food is not only nourishing and delicious, but it also brings people together—whether it’s a special anniversary dinner, a much-needed lunch break with coworkers, a friend’s birthday or even a casual weeknight meal with family. The dining table is a natural gathering place for our loved ones. Choose the perfect table to set for your friends and family from the variety at Watson’s, featured in this issue.

Food is often considered one of life’s great pleasures. So, dig in and enjoy this slice of comfort.
