Lakota Schools Technology Accolades

A variety of Lakota Schools initiatives have received praise lately for technological prowess. Somos Lakota was one of just seven videos in the “Branded Content General Education” category to win an international bronze Telly Award. The video, produced in partnership with SpotOn Productions, portrayed the personal experiences of Lakota students in the ESL program to help staff adopt more culturally responsive teaching practices. In addition, Lakota’s continued work with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) fast-tracked the district to become one of just eight districts worldwide to pilot the new ISTE District Partnership. Chief Technology Officer Todd Wesley and his team were recognized for their district-wide roll-out of the partnership at the ISTE conference in June. Finally, at its annual conference last month, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) presented Lakota Superintendent Matthew Miller with the 2019 Communication Technology Award for Superintendents. The award recognizes a superintendent for leadership in redefining, upgrading and integrating cutting-edge communication technology to expand outreach and engagement with stakeholders. Congratulations to the Lakota Schools team! LakotaOnline.com

Lindner Center of Hope Celebrates 11th Anniversary

Last month, the Lindner Center of HOPE celebrated its 11th anniversary by hosting a groundbreaking fundraiser using the Beatles mantra, “Come Together,” benefiting the center’s fight against mental illness. “This event was a rare opportunity to bring together people across the region in support of one issue—mental health,” says Craig Lindner. “By ensuring our community leaders are aware of the reality of the mental health crisis, with both its human and local impact, we can come together to make Cincinnati the success story for fighting mental illness.” Over the past 11 years, the Lindner Center of HOPE’s clinician-scientists have helped more than 39,000 patients from around the world, published more than 825 scientific articles and been instrumental in bringing six new drugs to market for depression, bipolar disorder and eating disorders to improve clinical outcomes and safety.
